MA FINAL PROJECT

Week 12

Visualising a Digital Platform:

In recent weeks, I had been reflecting on current practices adopted by contemporary artists, specifically those that operate within the gallery, space.

One of the key aims for me, is to create an event that appeals to non-traditional audiences, one that evokes a sense of accessibility, and projects informality. The reason for this is that so many individuals often cite the Arts as being inaccessible for “Normal people”, and that the visual languages found therein, and indeed, the vernacular adopted by those within the sector, can be to the general viewer, discouraging, and leave them feeling marginalised, or forgotten about.

In the following series of compositions I had endeavoured to create a visual language that is built on basic forms, and bold colours. Collage, a tool many of us had first accrued in childhood, is accessible for many people. They, the general audience, understand the format, and furthermore, that understanding disarms their reticence towards engaging with the subject, before them.
