MA FINAL PROJECT

Week 09

Diary:

After having presented my proposal on Monday the 9th of November, and having since spent some time reflecting-on the feedback provided, therein, I had then proceeded to make amendments to my Draft-proposal. Factoring-in the feedback provided by the panel, I had endeavoured to provide greater clarity in the communicating of the objectives, and further elaborated on the strategy to be implemented, in the executing of the research methodologies.

One of the more insightful responses had been provided by Brian, and in responding to my presentation had suggested that I allow the findings accrued during the research phase of the project to inform the direction of the project, and to not focus on developing an outcome at this point in the project.

Questions to be posed to my interviewees:

Q: How has the Covid 19 pandemic altered your work-day?

Q: What is your opinion on the future of the Arts & Culture sector -Does the sector have to reconsider its position in relation to engaging new audiences?

Q: With the role of technology having expanded considerably, across the sector, and considering the reduction in physical assets, that has been implemented in response to the pandemic, can we expect to see the expansion of the digital presence?-How does this change how we think about live-performances, or exhibitions?

Q: What changes had you made in order to adapt to the changes imposed on daily life, in response to the pandemic?-Have you discovered anything new about yourself, or accrued any new hobbies?

Q: Has the pandemic changed how you view your role, within the organisation in which you work?

Q: Could you speak about the role of the British Arts & Culture sector, on the world stage?-How does Covid 19 change that standing, if at all?

Q: With many of our smaller venues falling victim to the economic fallout from the pandemic, should we be more concerned about the impact these closures will have on the local community?-How does this change the cultural identity of the UK, going forward?

Q: Could you speak to the impact that the pandemic has had on young people?-Has the disruption to their learning and development created a generation that will be ill-equipped to undertake the challenges of tomorrow?

Q: Do you foresee any substantial changes having to be made, to how you execute your responsibilities, going forward?

Q: What lessons can be learnt from our experiences of having lived through a global pandemic? -Do these insights need to be considered, in responding to the impact of the pandemic?

Q: With the economic impact of the pandemic continuing to do damage to the UK economy, what challenges lie ahead for the in-community initiatives, that are often funded by the Arts sector?-What does this mean for the health and well-being of those communities?

Q: In addressing the recovery, what can the general public do to help the Arts & Culture sector rebuild?-And do our larger organisations need to do more, in supporting underfunded, culturally-starved communities?

https://www.studiobergfors.work/

My guest this week is Creative Director/Partner at Intro, Creative Director @studiobergfors, and President of D&Ad New Blood, Anna Bergfors.

I had reached-out to Anna after discovering her profile on LinkedIn, via the Intro LinkedIn page. Subsequently, I had then proceeded to explore her work, and reading through her bio on the D&Ad website, I found myself in agreement with much of what she had written, and the values that she had projected, within the copy. Her views on subjects such as craft and creative practice were in-keeping with my own, and she too, shared my interest in the value of innovative technologies, and how they can be applied to help tackle societal challenges. Therefore, I had concluded that Anna, given her extensive experience within the industry, and no doubt having acquired valuable insights, during the pandemic, would make for an interesting choice, for my first guest.

What shall we talk about ?

Ask Guest, would they mind if I record the interview?

Q: Hello, and welcome. It is a pleasure to see you. I thought that we could begin by learning a little more about you and your career, so far. Could you tell us who you are and give us a brief overview of your career?

Q: Given the unprecedented challenges that had arisen due to the pandemic, and in your opinion, how would you surmise the response, within industry? -Are businesses making the right decisions?

Q: With the economic impact of the pandemic continuing to do damage to the UK economy, what challenges lie ahead for the in-community initiatives, that are often funded by the Arts sector? -What does this mean for the health and well-being of those communities?

Q: Could you speak to the impact that the pandemic has had on young people?-Is the disruption to their learning and development reflective of poorly designed public-services, or the fallout from poor decision-making, on the part of the government?

Q: With many of our smaller venues falling victim to the economic fallout from the pandemic, should we be more concerned about the impact these closures will have on the local community? -How does this change the cultural identity of the UK, going forward?

Q: With the role of technology having expanded considerably across the Arts and Culture sector, and considering the economic impact of the pandemic on grass-roots venues, can we expect to see the expansion of the digital presence? -How does this change how we think about live-performances, or exhibitions?

Q: What changes had you made, in order to adapt to the restrictions imposed on daily life? -Have you discovered anything new about yourself, or accrued any new hobbies?
